The Centre for Law and Economics (CLE) at National Law Institute University, Bhopal (NLIU), in collaboration with Khaitan & Co., organized the 1st CLE–Khaitan & Co. Certificate Course on Workforce Redundancy and its Legal Provisions on 7–8 February 2026. The two-day programme was designed to provide participants with a structured and practice-oriented understanding of workforce management, with a focus on employee rights, compliance, and the evolving gig economy.
The course introduced participants to the legal and economic dimensions of workforce redundancy, examining contemporary challenges and regulatory frameworks governing employment relationships. Across both days, the sessions focused on key aspects such as termination of employment, retrenchment procedures, statutory compliance requirements, and protections available to employees under labour laws. Special emphasis was placed on the legal implications of workforce restructuring in the context of emerging business models, including platform-based and gig work arrangements.
The programme also explored the intersection of law and economics in employment decision-making, highlighting how economic considerations influence redundancy strategies, organizational restructuring, and regulatory compliance. Participants were exposed to practical applications and real-world scenarios, enabling a deeper understanding of workforce-related legal issues from a practitioner’s perspective.
The sessions were conducted by Mr. Deepak Kumar, Partner at Khaitan & Co., who provided insights into workforce restructuring, compliance frameworks, and strategic considerations in redundancy processes. 2nd NLIU-CLE Dentons Link Legal Certificate Course on Economic Intricacies: Arbitration & Insolvency Proceedings
The Centre for Law and Economics (CLE) at National Law Institute University, Bhopal (NLIU), in collaboration with Dentons Link Legal, organized the 2nd NLIU-CLE Dentons Link Legal Certificate Course on “Economic Intricacies: Arbitration & Insolvency Proceedings,” commencing on 1 March 2026. The programme was designed to provide participants with a structured and practice-oriented understanding of dispute resolution and insolvency frameworks.
The course introduced participants to the legal and economic dimensions of arbitration and insolvency law, with a focus on the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 and the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016. Across the sessions, key areas of discussion included valuation issues, creditor rights, restructuring strategies, and the procedural as well as practical aspects of arbitration and insolvency proceedings.
Emphasis was placed on integrating legal analysis with financial and commercial considerations, enabling participants to understand how economic factors influence dispute resolution strategies and insolvency outcomes. The programme also incorporated discussions on real-world case studies, providing insights into contemporary challenges and evolving practices in commercial law.
The sessions were conducted by practitioners from Dentons Link Legal, including Abhishek Sharma, Raghav Mittal, Adyasha Patraa, and Pranshul Kulshreshtha, who brought diverse professional perspectives on arbitration and insolvency practice. The Centre for Law and Economics (CLE) at National Law Institute University, Bhopal (NLIU), in collaboration with Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan, organized the 1st NLIU-CLE Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan Certificate Course on “Understanding GST: Legal Framework and Economic Implications” on 14-15 March 2026. The two-day programme was designed to provide participants with a structured and practice-oriented understanding of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime in India.
The course introduced participants to the legal and economic dimensions of indirect taxation, with a focus on the statutory framework governing GST and its practical implementation. Across both days, the sessions covered key aspects such as the structure of GST law, input tax credit mechanisms, compliance requirements, and dispute resolution under the GST framework. The programme also examined the broader economic implications of GST, highlighting its role in shaping India’s fiscal policy and economic landscape.
Emphasis was placed on bridging the gap between legal theory and commercial practice, with discussions centred on real-world applications, regulatory challenges, and evolving trends in indirect taxation. Participants engaged with contemporary issues and case studies, enabling a deeper understanding of GST from both legal and economic perspectives.
The sessions were conducted by Mr. Yogendra Aldak, Executive Partner at Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan, who provided insights into the GST framework and its practical application in complex transactions. Mr. Kunal Kapoor, Associate Partner, contributed by analysing compliance structures and dispute resolution mechanisms under GST law. 3 rd NLIU AGREEMENT DRAFTING AND PRESENTATION COMPETITION, 2026
On February 7 and 8, 2026, the NLIU Law Review organised the 3rd Edition of the NLIU Agreement Drafting and Presentation Competition, 2026 at the Rajiv Gandhi National Cyber Law Centre, NLIU Bhopal, in collaboration with Saraf and Partners. The Competition aimed at enhancing the participants’ contract drafting and negotiation skills while providing them the opportunity to present their agreements before an esteemed panel of legal professionals and academicians. The Competition was conducted in two phases, wherein Phase I required participants to draft an agreement and a concept note based on a contract proposition. Out of approximately 400 submissions in Phase I, the top 15 teams advanced to Phase II, where they were invited to the NLIU campus to present their agreements before an illustrious panel of judges.
The event commenced with an Inaugural Ceremony, attended by our Chief Guest, Advocate on Record, Mr. Anas Tanwir (practitioner at the Supreme Court of India as well as his Chambers called 32 LLP, Goa), Prof. (Dr.) S. Surya Prakash (Vice Chancellor, NLIU Bhopal), Sr. Prof. (Dr.) Ghayur Alam (Faculty Advisor, NLIU Law Review), and Prof. (Dr.) Atul Kumar Pandey (Dean U.G. Studies, NLIU Bhopal). The Ceremony began with the lighting of the lamp symbolizing the pursuit of knowledge and excellence. This was followed by a felicitation of the dignitaries with indoor saplings as part of the Journal’s sustainability initiative. Followed by this, in their speeches, the speakers emphasized the growing importance of contract drafting in legal practice and encouraged participants to approach the Competition with a blend of creativity, precision, and strategic thinking. The Volume XV, Issue I of the NLIU Law Review Journal was also unveiled at the Inaugural Ceremony, marking fifteen years of academic rigor and contribution. The ceremony was followed by a judges’ briefing session, where judges were guided on the evaluation criteria, ensuring an insightful and structured assessment.
The Qualification Rounds took place across four courtrooms, with panels comprising distinguished legal professionals, including Adv. Ravi Kant Patidar (Advocate, Bhopal), Dr. Pooja Kiyawat (Assistant Professor, NLIU Bhopal), Adv. Milind Sharma (Advocate, MP HC and Various Tribunals and Founding Partner, Pinaki Legal), Shubhendra Singh Deep (Litigation Associate, Chir Amrit Legal LLP), Mr. Labeeb Faaeq (Associate, KK Venugopal’s Office), Ms. Tarusha Mathur (Associate, WNS), Mr. Harshvardhan Tripathi (Associate, CAM), Ms. Diksha Bhatt (Associate, CAM), Adv. Arpit Sanjar (Advocate, MP HC and District and Sessions Court, Bhopal) and Mr. Sagnik Aditya (Associate, Argus and Partners).
The first day of the competition concluded with a Bonfire Night, where participants had the opportunity to interact with judges and fellow competitors in an informal setting, fostering connections and discussions beyond the competition.
After rigorous deliberations, the top five teams from Hidayatullah National Law University Raipur, Jindal Global Law School Sonipat, National Law University Odisha, Nirma University Ahmedabad and Symbiosis Law School Pune, advanced to the Final Rounds, adjudged by Mr. Pawan Reley (Advocate on Record), Mr. Keshav Pareek (Principal Associate, Saraf & Partners) & Mr. Anuj Garg (Senior Associate, Saraf & Partners). The judges critically examined each agreement and the presentations, testing participants on their legal reasoning, precision, and commercial viability.
The event also featured two insightful guest sessions, adding to the participants’ learning experience. Mr. Keshav Pareek, Principal Associate at Saraf & Partners, and Mr. Anuj Garg, Senior Associate at Saraf & Partners elaborated upon the practical challenges in contract drafting sharing key industry insights in a session on Nuances of Contract Drafting and Legal Research. Additionally, a session by LawFoyer on The Article Blueprint: From Draft to Publication – A Workshop on Academic Writing was conducted by Mr. Amal Singh.
The valedictory ceremony was a celebration of excellence, featuring addresses by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) S. Surya Prakash, Sr. Prof. (Dr.) Ghayur Alam, Mr. Keshav Pareek (Principal Associate, Saraf & Partners) & Mr. Anuj Garg (Senior Associate, Saraf & Partners) and Advocate on Record; Mr. Pawan Reley. The speakers congratulated the students for their spectacular performance throughout the competition and motivated them going forward as young lawyers.
Mr. Aditya Gandhi and Mr. Daksh Jain from NLU Orissa emerged as Winners, while Ms. Radhika Gupta and Ms. Amishi Singh from Symbiosis Law School, Pune were declared First Runners-up. Mr. Nalin Arora and Ms. Sofia Dash from Jindal Global Law School, Sonepat secured title of Second Runners-up. Mr. Ashutosh Kumar from National Law School of India University, Bengaluru won the award for Best Draft and Presentation.
The 3rd Edition of the NLIU Agreement Drafting and Presentation Competition was great academic as well as practical experience. It was fulfilling for the participants, judges as well as the organizing committee to see it transform into a grand success.
TRAINING SESSION ON PSYCHOLOGICAL FIRST AID
A specialised training session on Psychological First Aid was conducted at National Law Institute University. Dr. Anita Puri Singh, HOD Psychology Department, MLB College, Bhopal and Consultant psychologist, Chirayu Hospital, was invited as a Guest Speaker. The session was designed specifically for faculty, wardens, and superintendents, essentially individuals that serve as primary point of contact for students. The aim of the session was to provide tools for immediate emotional and practical support in the aftermath of distressing setbacks that may be experienced unexpectedly by students.
The training emphasized that the initial response of teaching and non teaching staff is crucial in stabilizing a student’s mental state and preventing further psychological harm. By equipping first responders with these tools, the university aims to create a more resilient campus environment where students feel seen and protected during their most vulnerable moments.
A central theme of Dr. Singh’s presentation was the cultivation of a deep sense of belongingness and security. The session guided participants on how to offer a grounding presence that reduces a student’s sense of isolation following a crisis. Discussion focused on the “Look, Listen, Link” framework, which prioritizes observing for distress, listening to immediate needs, and connecting the individual to further resources. By focusing on safety and comfort first, staff can help restore a student’s sense of control, which is often the first thing lost during a distressing event.
The training also delved into the nuances of empathetic communication, teaching staff how to be supportive without becoming intrusive. Dr. Singh highlighted the importance of active listening and the “power of presence,” where simply being with a student is often more effective than offering unsolicited advice or asking for exhaustive details of a setback. Participants practiced techniques for validating a student’s feelings and providing a “psychological bandage” that respects personal boundaries. This balanced approach ensures that students feel genuinely supported and understood, rather than interrogated, fostering a culture of trust between the student body and the university administration.

The 11th NLIU–Trilegal Summit on Corporate and Commercial Laws, 2026 concluded successfully after two days of engaging discussions and insightful research presentations. The Summit brought together students, scholars and industry experts. The Summit featured paper presentations on diverse contemporary issues in corporate and commercial law, sparking meaningful dialogue and thoughtful feedback from an esteemed panel of academicians and practitioners.

The discussion provided valuable insights into the evolving insolvency framework and the implications of the proposed amendments.
The Summit concluded with the Valedictory Ceremony, graced by Mr. Santosh Kumar Shukla, Quasi-Judicial Authority and Joint Legal Adviser, Securities and Exchange Board of India, followed by the declaration of winners. Anushka Singh was declared the Winner; Tanya Verma and Akshat Puhania secured the Runners-Up positions; and Tushar Umesh Bhoopalam and Shaunak Rohit Wagle were placed as Second Runners-Up, rounding off two days of insightful discussions. The success of the Summit was made possible by the enthusiastic participation and thoughtful engagement of all participants, panelists and attendees. Alumni Meet
The VII NLIU Alumni Meet was organized over two days, on 24th and 25th January, with the aim of improving alumni engagement, promoting academic interaction, and strengthening institutional bonding between alumni, students, and faculty members.
The event kicked off in the evening of 24th January with an Alumni Sports Meet, where the alumni actively engaged in sports such as chess and badminton. These sports activities served as a platform for interaction, encouraging bonding and a sense of belonging among the alumni and students. The day ended with a Social Night at the Convention Centre, featuring nostalgic musical performances by alumni.
The second day began with a plantation drive, reflecting the institution’s commitment to environmental sustainability. The formal session included alumni felicitation, cultural performances by Roobaroo (Music Club) and Razzmatazz (Dance Club), and a Common Law Method lecture by Prof. (Dr.) Ghayur Alam. The meet concluded with a common lunch at the Guest House, strengthening alumni–student–faculty ties.
12th NLIU–VKC Law Offices National Corporate Law Moot, 2026
The National Law Institute University, Bhopal successfully organised the 12th NLIU–VKC Law Offices National Corporate Law Moot, 2026, reaffirming its tradition of excellence in mooting and legal education. The three-day national competition focused on Insolvency Law and saw participation from 80+ teams, with 28 qualifying for oral rounds.
The opening ceremony was graced by Hon’ble Mr. Justice (Retd.) Hemant Gupta, Prof. (Dr.) S. Surya Prakash (Vice-Chancellor), Prof. (Dr.) Raka Arya, Dr. Padma Singh, Prof. (Dr.) Atul Kumar Pandey, Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Yadav, and Mr. Varun Kumar Chopra, Managing Partner, VKC Law Offices.
The second day featured preliminary, quarter-final, and semi-final rounds marked by rigorous advocacy and judicial scrutiny. The final round saw ILS Law College, Pune face the Faculty of Law, GLS before a distinguished bench of judges.
ILS Law College, Pune emerged as Winners, with Faculty of Law, GLS as Runners-Up. Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University won Best Memorial, and Ms. Pia Agarwal (JGLS) was adjudged Best Oralist.
NLIU CLT Techtonic Fair (16–18 January 2026)
National Law Institute University, Bhopal hosted Techtonic 2026, the flagship event of the NLIU Cell for Law and Technology (CLT). The 5th edition focused on the intersection of law, technology, and public policy, featuring speakers from Nishith Desai Associates, CyberPeace Foundation, AZB, CAM, and Saraf & Partners.
The inaugural session featured Chief Guest Mr. Avi Prasad (IAS), who spoke on AI adoption in governance. Sessions included panel discussions on online gaming regulation, TMT policy, and AI governance frameworks.
Day 2 included the CLT–NDA Policy Case Competition and the Round Table Conference on “AI Governance and Accountability: Balancing Innovation and Regulation.”
Day 3 concluded with final rounds and a valedictory ceremony. Winners included Samridh Sharma and Shambhavi Anand (NLIU), with teams from SLS Noida and MNLU Mumbai also recognized across categories.

3rd NLIU – AZB & PARTNERS CERTIFICATE COURSE ON ENERGY LAWS 2025
The 3rd NLIU-AZB & Partners Certificate Course on Energy Laws, held on 5th October 2025, offered students an opportunity to explore India’s dynamic energy sector. The course was led by Mr. Shikhar Thukral, Senior Associate, at AZB & Partners, who brought their extensive expertise in energy law and infrastructure.
The session began by covering critical aspects such as regulatory frameworks governing oil and gas, asset acquisition models, and upstream contractual structures like concessions and production sharing contracts. It also explored ongoing decarbonization initiatives, including compressed biogas, sustainable aviation fuel, and ethanol blending, with a look at government schemes and market challenges. Further, the course highlighted notable renewable energy transactions involving major industry players, providing a vivid picture of emerging investment trends and legal complexities in India’s sustainable energy transition.
The course concluded with an engaging quiz, allowing participants to test their understanding of key concepts in a practical and interactive manner. The session received highly positive feedback for its clarity and relevance to real-world issues. Overall, the event was very well received. It focused on a niche area of law, exploring sustainability in the Indian oil and gas sector. Conducted by an expert with extensive industry experience, the session offered students valuable insights into how legal frameworks operate in practice and how they intersect with business and environmental concerns.
CLT-SAM Certificate Course on the Evolving Standards of Content Regulations
We are pleased to share a brief account of the specialized course recently conducted at our institution, “Evolving Standards of Content Regulation in India.” The sessions were led by Ms. Ritika Bansal, Associate at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co., and were further enriched through virtual participation by Mr. Shashank Mishra, Partner at the same firm.
This course, held on 27th September, 2025, provided participants with a thorough understanding of the legal frameworks that govern content regulation in India. This course saw the active participation of 77 students, and conducted in a hybrid mode to enable both in-person and online learning and enhance the experience.
Notably, the course also offered internship opportunities to meritorious students who performed well during the course., thereby linking academic insights with valuable professional exposure.
The sessions analyzed major judicial pronouncements, such as Shreya Singhal v. Union of India and Anuradha Bhasin v. Union of India, along with with a broad spectrum of statutory instruments including the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, Information Technology Act and Rules, Cinematograph Act, and sector-specific regulations for digital media and OTT platforms. The course’s interactive and case-driven pedagogy encouraged participants to engage rigorously with contemporary issues.
This initiative, made possible through collaboration with leading practitioners, has contributed significantly toward equipping our students and faculty with nuanced perspectives and practical tools relevant to a rapidly evolving legal landscape.
Workshop on Research Paper Writing 2025 conducted by Manthan- NLIU Bhopal
“Manthan, NLIU successfully organized the Workshop on Research Paper Writing 2025 on August 31, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Auditorium. The session was conducted by Prof. Harsh Mahaseth, Associate Professor and Senior Research Fellow (Centre for ADR), Jindal Global Law School, O.P. Jindal Global University.
The workshop was aimed at equipping students with essential skills for producing impactful research papers. Prof. Mahaseth guided participants through the fundamentals of structuring research, drafting coherent arguments, and publishing in reputed platforms. He stressed the importance of clarity, originality, and proper citation practices, while also highlighting common errors students should avoid in academic writing.
A particularly enriching aspect of the session was the high level of interaction it generated. Students actively participated by asking questions and clearing their doubts on research methodology, framing research questions, and refining their writing style. Prof. Mahaseth responded with practical solutions and shared strategies that can be applied across different areas of academic writing.
The workshop not only improved students’ understanding of research paper writing but also enhanced their confidence to undertake independent research. Overall, the event reinforced Manthan’s vision of fostering.”
Analysing Alternative Law Careers: Devolving into Supreme Court Judicial Clerkship Session Report – NLIU Bhopal
The Civil and Criminal Justice Cell (CCJC) of the National Law Institute University, Bhopal, organised a lecture on “Analysing Alternative Law Careers: Devolving into Supreme Court Judicial Clerkship.” The session featured Ms. Kavya Arora, Judicial Clerk in the office of Hon’ble Justice R. Mahadevan, Supreme Court of India. She shared her experiences and insights into one of the judiciary’s most coveted career paths of judicial clerkship.
Ms. Arora described the clerkship as both intellectually rigorous and professionally transformative emphasising that adaptability, analytical and research skills along with a strong command of legal reasoning are indispensable for excelling in the role.
She provided students with an overview of the judicial clerkship examination, with tips from her own experience. She outlined the structure of the examination, which focuses on constitutional, procedural, civil, and criminal law. Her suggested preparation plan included categorising topics by difficulty and consistent engagement with recent judgements. She also suggested critical evaluation of previous year papers.
To illustrate effective legal writing, Ms. Arora analysed a sample brief, underscoring the importance of clarity, structure, and persuasive reasoning. She also explained how research memoranda for judges must present concise facts, sharply framed issues, and focused legal analysis supported by relevant precedents.
Highlighting the significance of judicial internships, it was added that they serve as a crucial stepping stone for clerkship aspirants. She encouraged students to seek placements in judges’ chambers over registry postings to gain meaningful exposure to judicial work.
In concluding her address, Ms. Arora painted a vivid picture of the daily responsibilities of a judicial clerk. These include attending hearings to preparing detailed notes, conducting legal research, and contributing to the drafting of judgments. These tasks, she remarked, make the role an unparalleled training ground for young lawyers, offering a vantage point into the inner workings of the Supreme Court.
The session left students with not just a roadmap for preparation, but also a deeper appreciation of judicial clerkship as an alternative career path. They learnt that this profession combines intellectual rigour with professional growth at the highest level of the judiciary.
Student Bar Association of NLIU Bhopal successfully hosted the inaugural edition of the 1st NLIU SBA Law Conclave 2025 on the 12th and 13th of April.
The two-day conclave, envisioned as a landmark academic initiative, was organized under the theme “Celebrating 75 Years of the Supreme Court of India” with the motto Bar, Bench and Beyond.
With an aim to foster meaningful engagement on contemporary constitutional questions and jurisprudential discourse, the conclave featured sub-themes such as Supreme Court and Digital Rights, Supreme Court and the Basic Structure Doctrine, Supreme Court and Judicial Activism, among others.
The event was inaugurated by an august gathering of jurists and dignitaries. The Inaugural Ceremony was graced by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Pankaj Mithal, Judge, Supreme Court of India, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Suresh Kumar Kaith, Chief Justice, High Court of Madhya Pradesh, and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Vivek Agarwal, Judge, High Court of Madhya Pradesh.
The 10th NLIU-Justice R.K. Tankha Memorial International Arbitration Moot was held from 4th to 6th April 2025
The first day began with the Inaugural Ceremony, which was graced by the esteemed presence of Mr. Shivam Patanjali, Deputy Counsel at the Singapore International Arbitration Centre, and Mr. Mohit Khubchandani, Ph.D. Candidate at Leiden University, Netherlands.
The second day began with two rigorous preliminary rounds, after which the top teams advanced to the quarter-finals. The day concluded with a lively social night that offered participants a well-earned break and an opportunity to network with peers.
The final rounds were judged by a distinguished bench comprising Hon’ble Mr. Justice Jasmeet Singh, Judge, Delhi High Court; Mr. Amit Anand Tiwari, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India; and Mr. Gautam Narayan, Senior Advocate, Delhi High Court; Mr. Amit Seth, Additional Advocate General & Senior Advocate, High Court of Madhya Pradesh and Mr. Ankit Goyal, Partner, Allen & Gledhill LLP. The Valedictory Ceremony was an illustrious affair, attended by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Suresh Kumar Kait, Chief Justice of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh and Chancellor of NLIU Bhopal; Hon’ble Mr. Justice Jasmeet Singh, Judge at the Delhi High Court and Mr. Vivek Tankha, Senior Advocate at the Supreme Court of India and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha). These dignitaries also served as judges for the final round, ensuring a high standard of legal discourse and evaluation.
7th NLIU- CADR Successfully Hosts the 13th International Mediation Tournament 2025 in Collaboration with INADR, from 28th March 2025 to 30th March 2025
The tournament was held in collaboration with the renowned organization, International Academy of Dispute Resolution (INADR), reiterating their commitment to foster awareness and excellence in negotiations. The Tournament was further supported by numerous organisations including Equi Law Partners as Strategic Partner, the PACT and ASCL as Mediation Advocacy Partner, LiveLaw as Media Partner, and MediateGuru, AIADR, and Katcheri as collaborators.
4th NLIU Global Symposium on Labour & Employment Laws, 2025, held on March 22–23, 2025
The 4th NLIU Global Symposium on Labour & Employment Laws, 2025, held on March 22–23, 2025, at NLIU Bhopal, brought together leading academicians, legal practitioners, policymakers, and industry experts to engage in thought-provoking discussions on the evolving landscape of labour and employment laws in India and beyond.
Organized by the Centre for Labour Laws (CLL), NLIU, the symposium served as a platform to critically analyze emerging challenges, policy reforms, and legal frameworks shaping the modern workforce. With the changing paradigms in industrial relations, gig economy regulations, and technological advancements affecting employment structures, this year’s symposium focused on the redefinition of ‘industry’ in the context of labour laws and the need for progressive legal adaptations.
NLIU Law Review, organized the 2nd Edition of the NLIU Agreement Drafting and Presentation Competition on 22nd March, 2025.
The event commenced with an Inaugural Ceremony, attended by our Chief Guest, Honorable Justice Shri Rajendra Kumar Verma (Former Judge, High Court of Madhya Pradesh), Prof. (Dr.) S. Surya Prakash (Vice Chancellor, NLIU Bhopal), Prof. (Dr.) Ghayur Alam (Faculty Advisor, NLIU Law Review), and Mr. Raghav Singh (Legal Officer, SBI). The event was also attended by Mr. Vivek Bakshi (Registrar, NLIU Bhopal), Prof. (Dr.) Atul Kumar Pandey (Dean U.G. Studies, NLIU Bhopal), and Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Yadav (Dean P.G. Studies, NLIU Bhopal).
4th NLIU-LAC Workshop and Training Programme on Paralegal Training and Competition on 15th and 16th March 2025
The event aimed to deepen law students’ understanding of legal aid and equip them with practical tools to become effective advocates for justice. A total of 14 teams from premier law universities across India participated.
The Opening Ceremony began with the lighting of the lamp, symbolizing knowledge and enlightenment. Ms. Ida Bhatnagar, Co-Convenor, delivered the inaugural address emphasising the transformative power of legal aid. Dr. Bir Pal Singh, Faculty in Charge of LAC, shared valuable insights on pro bono legal work, followed by an inspiring speech by Prof. (Dr.) Raka Arya, Dean of Student Welfare. The event was further enriched by addresses from Prof. (Dr.) Humayun Rasheed Khan (Guest of Honour) and Prof. (Dr.) Amit Mehrotra, Professor at the National Judicial Academy, Bhopal.
NLIU’s CCJC Cell Organizes Book Talk on Unravelling the Kashmir Knot by Dr. Aman Hingorani on 12th March 2025
The Centre for Criminal Justice and Criminology (CCJC) Cell of the National Law Institute University (NLIU), Bhopal, organised a thought-provoking book talk on Unravelling the Kashmir Knot: Present, Past, and Future, authored by Dr. Aman Hingorani, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India. The event brought together legal scholars, faculty members, and students to delve into the complexities of the Kashmir issue as explored in the book. The occasion was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Prof. (Dr.) S. Surya Prakash, Vice Chancellor, NLIU; Shri Vivek Bakshi, Registrar, NLIU; Dr. Aman Hingorani, the author himself; and Ms. Divya Salim, Faculty In-Charge of the CCJC Cell. During the discussion, Dr. Hingorani provided insightful perspectives on the historical, legal, and geopolitical dimensions of the Kashmir conflict.
His book critically examines the constitutional and international law aspects surrounding the issue and presents a unique legal framework for its resolution. The session was marked by engaging conversations, thought-provoking questions, and an in-depth analysis of India’s legal and political stance on Kashmir.
10th Trilegal Summit on Corporate and Commercial Laws
This year, the 10th Edition of the Summit received an overwhelming response, with over 100+ paper submissions from more than 40 law schools across India. After a rigorous selection process, the top 15 manuscripts were shortlisted for presentation. The event commenced with an inaugural ceremony graced by Hon’ble (Retd.) Justice Mr. Rohan Arya as the Chief Guest. The ceremony began with a warm welcome by the Joint Convenor of CBCL, Ms. Mahak Saxena followed by the Chairperson of CBCL, Prof. (Dr.) Ghayur Alam, presenting mementos to the esteemed panellists as a token of appreciation. The Vice-Chancellor of NLIU, Prof. (Dr.) S. Surya Prakash emphasised the importance of strong partnerships between legal academia and industry, acknowledging the continued collaboration with Eastern Book Company (EBC) and Trilegal. Additionally, the Chief Guest addressed the audience, emphasising the significance of perseverance and continuous learning in the legal profession.
