Dr. Narasinga Rao Barnikana

Assistant Professor of English

Qualifications: M.A., B.Ed., M.Phil., Ph.D.

Academic Qualifications

He holds a Ph.D. in English Language Teaching (2016) from Andhra University, where he also completed his M.Phil. in American Literature (2013) and M.A. in English Language Teaching (2009). Additionally, he earned a B.Ed. in English and Social Studies (2010).

Professional Experience

  • His professional career started at the Avanthi Institute of Engineering & Technology in Visakhapatnam, where he served as an Assistant Professor of English from June 2010 to April 2012.
  • He then transitioned to Andhra University College of Engineering, holding the same position from September 2013 to October 2018. From October 2018 to September 2021.
  • Rao worked at the Samrat Ashok Technological Institute in Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh under the MHRD/TEQIP Project. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in establishing an English language laboratory in 2020. His responsibilities included teaching English, English Language Lab, and soft skills.
  • In September 2021, he joined Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University in Sabbavaram as a Lecturer in English, a position he held until June 2024. His role expanded to include teaching legal language and legal writing, further diversifying his expertise.
  • Currently, Dr. Rao is an Assistant Professor of English at the National Law Institute University in Bhopal, a role he has held since July 2024.

Professional Engagements

Beyond his teaching and research, Dr. Barnikana is actively involved in various professional bodies. He is a short-term member of the TESOL, Sahitya Akademi, and the English Language Teachers’ Association of India (ELTAI). He is also a life member of the Association for English Studies of India (AESI) and the Indian Society for Training & Development (ISTD).

Administrative and Advisory Roles

At Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University, he was a member of the Exams and Attendance Rules Committee and served as the Faculty Convenor for the Centre for Law, Language, and Literature. He was also the Convenor of the Lex Et Juris-Lecture Series and a member of the University Publication Committee.
