10th NLIU-Trilegal Summit 2025

The 10th NLIU-Trilegal Summit on Corporate and Commercial Laws, organised by the Centre for Business and Commercial Laws (CBCL) at the National Law Institute University (NLIU), marked a decade of insightful discussions, research, and academic excellence. Since its inception in 2008, CBCL has been a hub for fostering legal scholarship in business and commercial laws. Over the years, the summit has grown into one of the most prestigious corporate law events in the country, bringing together law students, academicians, and legal professionals.

This year, the 10th Edition of the Summit received an overwhelming response, with over 100+ paper submissions from more than 40 law schools across India. After a rigorous selection process, the top 15 manuscripts were shortlisted for presentation. The event commenced with an inaugural ceremony graced by Hon’ble (Retd.) Justice Mr. Rohan Arya as the Chief Guest. The ceremony began with a warm welcome by the Joint Convenor of CBCL, Ms. Mahak Saxena followed by the Chairperson of CBCL, Prof. Dr. Ghayur Alam, presenting mementos to the esteemed panellists as a token of appreciation. The Vice-Chancellor of NLIU, Prof. Dr. S. Surya Prakash emphasised the importance of strong partnerships between legal academia and industry, acknowledging the continued collaboration with Eastern Book Company (EBC) and Trilegal. Additionally, the Chief Guest addressed the audience, emphasising the significance of perseverance and continuous learning in the legal profession.

The Summit featured distinguished speakers, including Mr. Siddharth Raja, Senior Partner at Vertices Partners, and Mr. Debajyoti Ray, MD & CEO, NeSL, who delivered a guest lecture on “The Evolving Role of Information Utility under IBC 2016.” Additionally, Mr. Yogesh Singh, Mr. Ramakant Rai, and Mr. Albin George Thomas, Partners at Trilegal, shared their expertise in thought-provoking discussions. Ms. Ibiyemi Ruth Olaoyenikan, Assistant Legal Counsel at the Permanent Court of Arbitration, delivered an insightful session on “The Role of Arbitration in Resolving Commercial Disputes: A Case Study of the Permanent Court of Arbitration.”

The Summit provided an engaging platform for students, academicians, and legal professionals to deliberate on contemporary corporate and commercial law issues. The exchange of ideas, coupled with expert insights, made this edition a resounding success. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, recognizing the contributions of the organizing committee, the panellists, and all attendees who made the Summit a meaningful and enriching experience.
