Prof.(Dr.) Ghayur Alam

Dr. Ghayur Alam is the Senior Professor of Business Laws and Intellectual Property Rights at the National Law Institute University (NLIU), Bhopal, India. He is the senior-most Professor of Law at NLIU and the first faculty member to have joined the University on 1 August 1998, even before the commencement of its first academic session. He has played a pivotal role in the academic and administrative development of NLIU since its inception.

He has held several important leadership and administrative positions at NLIU, including Head, Department of Intellectual Property Rights and Business Law; Chairperson, Centre of Business and Commercial Laws; DIPP/DPIIT IPR Chair Professor (Additional Charge); First and Former Dean, Undergraduate Studies; and has officiated multiple times as Director (Vice-Chancellor), Registrar, and Finance Officer of the University.

Dr. Alam secured First Division with First Position in merit in all examinations up to 10+2 level. He secured Second Position in order of merit in both LL.B. and LL.M. examinations. He was awarded the prestigious Fulbright Fellowship in 2005 to pursue doctoral studies at The George Washington University Law School, Washington DC, USA. He earned his Ph.D. degree from the National Law Institute University, Bhopal.
