On September 30, 2023, the National Law Institute University (NLIU) had the honor of hosting a study tour for the Library Research and Reference Committee of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly. Upon arrival Shri Om Prakash Sakhelcha Ji, Chairperson, the Library Research and Reference Committee of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly, its committee members, and officers from the Legislative Assembly Secretariat welcomed by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof.(Dr.) Surya Prakash, Registrar Mr. Vivek Bakshi, deans of undergraduate, postgraduate study at the Gyan Mandir (Library). Mr. Mohit Gupta, Assistant Librarian guided and given the glimpse of collection and explained about various physical and e-resources available in the library. The guests were appraised the collection and services of the library. Further the Chairperson, the Library Research and Reference Committee of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly congratulated for the new and Unique services “JUDGEMENT ALERT!” and requested the Vice- Chancellor to provide the same to different bar associations for the updation of practicing legal professionals. Thereafter all the guests and university officials move towards the Conference room for further discussion. The discussion began with a warm welcome in the university’s conference room. The Vice Chancellor and the Registrar greeted the attendees with traditional garlands and presented mementos, fostering a sense of respect and camaraderie. This welcoming gesture set a positive tone for the day’s interactions. Mementos were presented as tokens of goodwill, setting an inviting and cordial atmosphere for the discussions to follow. A video Presentation about the journey of National Law Institute University is given to all the guests which reflect the growth, research, activities and vital events of the university over the years. After the video presentation Mr. Mohit Gupta given a presentation about the services, collection and functioning of Gyan Mandir (Library) followed by the Presentation on Constitution and Composite Culture by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, National Law Institute University, Bhopal and thereafter a detailed discussion on the library and the exchange of ideas been initiated. At the outset of the program the Chairperson, the Library Research and Reference Committee of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly addressed the august gathering and given thanks to the university for the hospitality and the program. The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor felicitated the Hon’ble Chairperson, the Library Research and Reference Committee of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly. The Registrar proposed a formal vote of thanks for attending and participating in the program at the university.
As the day came to a close, the program ended on a patriotic note with the playing of the National Anthem, bringing a sense of unity and pride to the participants. This memorable event not only reinforced the library’s critical role in supporting legal research but also highlighted the potential for future collaborations between academic institutions and legislative bodies.
